Brigit Bauma's Value Proposition

"Just a girl trying new things."

Seeking to be an editor at a publishing company, specifically magazine companies like Seventeen, Cosmopolitan, and Glamour or book publishing like Random House Teens or HarperCollins Teens. Within the company, I would like my audience to be 18 to 25-year-old forward-thinking college women. I wish to inspire and help perpetuate revolutionary ideas within the young adult genre that will change the publishing industry for the better.

I am a forward-thinking, farm girl turned city girl chic with an eye for writing and editing. I blog about fashion on a budget and write and edit for an online women's magazine. I do this by listening, researching, following blogs and expressing my ideas through writing in a way that is informative and forward-thinking, like a city girl, but diligent and personable, like a farm girl.

As I wrote in my previous blog post, I am following blogs that have to do with fashion and I am writing and editing for my target audience. To really deliver my brand, I will be using LinkedIn. However, I am not doing so much in the book publishing industry.

So I went out and found the community, Random Buzzers, part of Random House publishing, that I will be participating in. There I can learn about the up-in-coming events and books, as well as discuss my thoughts and ideas for the publishing industry.

I also went to HarperCollins's website where I found the Epic Reads page. They too have a community that I can participate in, so that I can get involved and my name out there.

  1. I love your "farm girl turned city girl chic" approach to your brand! More importantly, I like who your targeting: forward thinking young adults. It showcases how fabulous you are, yet you have the substance to back it up.

Your success will inspire other small town/farm girls who share your same ambitions!

  3. Excellent value prop, Brigit. Love that you know who you are, what you want and your target audience. Get a little more creative on how you build your brand. LInkedIn is great for actually targeting and reaching out -- but I think you have a lot more to give to this area. Can you participate in forums or message boards that this group participates with? Tell me more. Perri
