No Concert Without an Audience

Being involved in the music industry is gonna attract a very large audience. Without people to hear my work or see my performances will not help make me any successful. I am not saying that I'm a singer or rapper but as a producer, it is still important to be heard and recognized. Luckily there is a lot of great tools to help with that and begin networking.

  • Where are you going to find your target audience?
    •      My target audience are well rounded talented individuals. It can be musicians, producers, engineers, deejays, artists, event planners and even the business men and women behind the scenes negotiating contracts and agreements. I have a large selection of people that I can influence in order to achieve my goal. However being recognized in this business is very difficult.
  • How are you going to get their attention?
    • It is a step by step process. First thing is to establish a small network of fans and followers in my town and local areas. I have thought of starting a website to upload a lot of my projects, upcoming events, biographies, music videos and downloadable content. I have also worked with local nightclubs to set up small shows for a group of musicians that I work with. As a business major I plan to intern or send my portfolio to industry leaders to land a position in producing, managing, scouting, recruiting, or event planning.
  • What is your overall marketing strategy and how does social media fit?
    • My strategy is to get as many followers as possible within the ages of 18-30. I am going to use social media tools such as Soundcloud to upload projects and other works from various artists that I work with. I can also use Instagram and Facebook to promote my website, songs, events, and updates of all my work.
  • What social media mix will you use to communicate with them?
    •  My portfolio will be a big tool to use for communicating with my audience. In my portfolio will be projects of my own and from when i worked with other artists. There will also be my biography explaining how I started producing and what my goals will be in the future. i will include posts and photos that I have used in my Soundcloud, Instagram and Facebook page.
Here I found an article from Discmakers on strategies to effectively get noticed by my audience.

  2. Julio - I agree that the breakdown is really nice. Can you be more specific on your target audience - pick 1-2. Who are they? Where do they hang out online? And choose 1 realistic way to build your brand that you can sustain. I am going to ask you to actually do it for class ... so make sure it's do-able. Thanks -Perri

  3. This sounds awesome! What about social media listening sessions using Skype or google (a site that uses webcam conferencing technology)? You can host a session(I sure you can make it interesting), and have your audience give you feedback. I guess the task would be getting them there, I am sure your music will retain them.
