My target audience......To fulfill my value proposition would be mainly to the CEO of Neiman Marcus Designers, Karen Katz. My goal is to target her in how I can become a great asset to the compnay. Before standing out in front of the CEO, I would like to target some current employes at Neiman Marcus. Some people that have gone through the Executive Program at Neiman Marcus.

Getting my target audiences attention will be a day by day struggle. I will have to introduce myself to many of the current employees and direct their attention to my strengths. As I show them my ability to learn and help out in any department, then I will have an "in" with the employes and a good word for Karen Katz to hear.

Following my target audience will be where social media comes in. LinkdeIn is where a lot of Neiman Marcus employees "hangout." I have noticed reviews on a google search that they love working at the business end of Neiman Marcus and There is a lot to learn. As I follow the men and women ages 25-35 in the Neiman Marcus business, I have noticed a large connect with Facebook. I currently follow the "Neiman Marcus" page and many employees are brought up in there Facebook posts.
The last an for-most would be the internship program that Neiman Marcus offers. This is another way to target my audience. Getting my foot in the door by actually showing my skills and addresses my strengths . I have always said in life its about who you know and how you can express yourself.

ReplyDeleteThanks Ashley. Have you done a plain old Google search for Neiman Marcus? See what comes up. Also, consider getting Google alerts when Neiman Marcus is in the news. You can see who their PR contacts are, reach out to them or follow them on Twitter, through the NM LinkedIn Group, etc. You may also want to consider following some journalists that cover NM or retail ... to understand what they are saying about the company / how to target them company. Understanding influencers is a critical way to get to know the company. Have you tried doing any of the things you mentioned in your blog post? How are you building your professional brand?
ReplyDeleteI will take all the examples and ideas you gave me into consideration. I am not great with all the social media alerts and extras. I am slowly getting involve into it. I have started following Neiman Marcus on Facebook. I also have gone to their career section in their website and browsed through what the employees are saying about the company.I would love to to do the internship program, I was reading into that but, with working two jobs and going to school full time it is just not in my schedule right now. I am connecting with LinkdIn as well as just doing a google search where I found a blog about the company, where I can ask questions about job opportunities available. Another google search I found that could build my brand was a job listing on Glassdoor. They list different job and you can research them on their social media to see who works in that department or type of job. I thought that was very helpful to read about other people in that job and how they like it. I continue to research more an more about Neiman Marcus and I fall more in love with the idea of potentially having a job after college in this company.
