Value
Proposition:
"I
am a soon to be marketing graduate with a passion for all things nonprofit,
both internationally and domestically, with a focus on faith based nonprofits
that form partnerships with musicians to help promote their causes. By interning at a nonprofit Christian radio
station for the past two summer through event planning and guest management and
by interning with the largest Christian ticketing company to promote Christian
concerts and events, I have learned what is required to run a successful
nonprofit.
I have gained experience
through partnering with experienced management,
volunteering for nonprofits at events, networking at key events with
causes I feel passionate about, and by staying up to date with current news in
the faith based nonprofit industry. Through
sincerity, compassion, and dedication, I look to partner with nonprofits to combine
what I already know with new knowledge to use it to help change lives."
As
written in my first post, and partially in my second, one of my biggest passions
is nonprofit organizations; whether digging wells to provide clean drinking
water, creating sustainable agriculture initiatives in Zimbabwe, providing
services to our troops and their families, sending musicians to top security
prisons to play for inmates, or working to stop human trafficking, I truly have
a passion for all things nonprofit.
From
this, my objectives would include:
- To network with those currently working in or with nonprofits and those with similar interests
- To help market and promote various nonprofits
- To encourage others to find a nonprofit that aligns with their interests and get involved.
I will build my brand through the following channels:
- Facebook: Connect by "liking" pages for nonprofits and by interacting with them. Also to build a brand through sharing/posting related stories and articles to my account.
- LinkedIn: To network with current employees of organizations that I would like to work for.
- Twitter: To follow/interact with nonprofits.
- Blogger: Ultimately, either later in the semester or after the semester, I would like to create a blog to further help build the brands of nonprofits.
While
my brand is clearly sill a work in process, by maintaining relationships with
nonprofits I've worked with in the past, and by reaching out to a new audience,
I'm excited to begin to grow my brand through social media.
Let me first say thank you, I enjoy this read.
ReplyDeleteThroughout the many courses we've taken, for those of us with a focus on Marketing, you hear various terms and read up on case studies about business A and business B; I have to honestly say that nonprofit concepts have been given very little attention. You're focusing on this P&G product or how Apple is king in this, that, and the third with very little attention paid to such organizations that you've described in your post.
I've gained my very first job with the National Urban League, a nonprofit, many moons ago, but I haven't considered reaching out to them to further enhance as well as offer my abilities post graduation. I'm still in touch with a few in the organization and surprisingly I have not given them any thought throughout my educational career until now. I reckon it is time I consider giving back to those that have given to me.
Again, an enjoyable read, and thank you for more than just this post, but for bringing the concept of serving something greater than ourselves in the spot light for me - best of luck to you.
Thanks for the feedback! I definitely agree that nonprofit concepts have been given very little attention. During both my time at Kean, and before I transferred here, nonprofits have been consistently glanced over. While nonprofit work may not be of interest to everyone, there is so much to be learned from them.
DeleteIf it’s something of interest to you, I would definitely reach out to those from the organization that you are still in touch with. With some of the nonprofits I have helped with, the people there seem to have so much to offer, from looking at things from a non-corporate perspective (which can be a much needed change at times) to connections for possible future jobs, it's definitely something worth considering.
Thanks again for the feedback!
