Finding My Personal Brand

I have graduated from college and I still do not have a solid direction to where I am heading.  In May I graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Hospitality Management.  Originally when I was looking at Syracuse I wanted to get into sports.  I knew how difficult it was to land a solid career there so I choose Hospitality Management as my major.  I believed it would give me a solid direction to many different fields including hotel management and casino operations where I had an interest at the time.  I also believed that if the stars aligned right I would be able to reach into sports.

Was I wrong?  No, my time at Syracuse gave me a great opening start, but that all it is. A start.  What has changed for me though?  I developed a lot more interests.  I fell in love with Twitter and social media and developed a strong interest in media.  I want to know everything that is happening in the world now.  Not just in sports as it was originally but in movies, television and the rest of the world.  Now after graduating I need to figure out a solid way to reintroduce me to the world.  Figure out what my personal brand should be.

I need to start by figuring what my objectives should be.  I need to focus on what I like.  What I can do and what I can do well.  I also need to figure out what connections I know of from Syracuse and other colleagues and friends.  Just applying to jobs has not gotten me far.  I need to develop a plan and I need to execute that plan.

My target audience will probably cover a very large spectrum of people.  With my interest in sports, television and movie news I discuss a lot about what is happening in the world.  Those interests are of course extremely broad and really cover many different kinds of people.  I also want to address my tweets towards a future employer.  If I want a potential job in social media, I want my tweets to envision my potential future employer seeing me succeed in that role.

I will be building my persona brand through my twitter page, my LinkedIn page, and hopefully my future blog if I ever get it going.
