Branding Me. Branding My Future.

Promoting who I am never seems to be as easy as it sounds.  Pasting a list of job descriptions or life experiences together into a 2nd grader's best run-on sentence shouldn't be a challenge, but it is.

I know what I have done in my life, I know where I am at now, and I have hopes for where I may end up in 5 to 10 years.  But building my personal brand starts now, not in 5-10 years.

I currently work as a security consultant for a home security company, and over the next year I would like to work my way up the ranks into a marketing position.  I want to brand myself as an expert for home security systems and the art of security in general.

My "now" target audience is the corporate managers of my current company.  My future audience is larger security and weapon corporations contracting with military and government agencies.

I plan to use LinkedIn as my primary channel to promote my personal brand and Twitter as my secondary.  I will be following a Homeland Security blog and several independent home security organizations to help me grow more in this area.

My goal is to find relevant material to my personal brand and keep an active feed of buzz articles on my pages.  I plan to keep in mind some of the following:

- Consistency within my social media.  Same image.  Same personal brand concept.
- Keep posts professional and in good taste.
- Stay active from this day forward.  My social media channels are never complete.
- Post relevant articles promoting my mindset and work ethic.
- Do not over Hashtag, Datadump, or name drop.

"Security subject matter expert for business, home, and military operations, college marketing major, Navy veteran with salesman experience along with both civilian and military management experience, effective trainer and team builder with active DoD security clearance, aggressive motivator, determined achiever with a creative mindset, competent in small arm weapons, advanced weaponry, anti-terrorism policies, and detainee operations."
