I also started following his twitter and for compelling content I retweeted one of his tweets, to go with that I commented on the new music video he and the artist justin Bieber have collaborated on.

Tumblr profile, awesome - welcome aboard.
ReplyDeleteI highly encourage you to really participate in the community, its far more welcoming than the norm; Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and lets throw in LinkedIn as well to name those that are not as media centric as tumblr.
Yeah, the commenting and messaging system are not the best to keep a conversation going, but that's where you realize expression is more done through media. Have it be a six second .gif file of a meme or a random photo of a cheeseburger clearly Instagram enhanced.
It's all about expression - simple.
I encourage you to build upon your first steps on tumblr, build a following, and keep in mind that well taken tumble blogs are ones that revolve around a theme.
I'm not sure what your exact background in music is, but to just come up with a theme off the top of my head I will say to create a behind the scenes type of feel for the industry. I highly recommend original content if at all possible, but follow a few more tumble blogs to get a feel for what can possible help you in shaping your own tumblr.
To give you an idea about sticking to a theme I'm a big fan of terrysdiary.com (tumblr account) - Terry is a pretty awesome photographer in my opinion and he delivers that behind the scenes feel when it comes to various pop icons and stars. Some images, not many, are NSFW so watch out for a surprise or two (I enjoyed his shot of Miley with crooked lips - lol).
I'm currently sticking to a theme of my own on a second tumblr blog i've created at AllABlub.tumblr.com. Most photos I've taken in the kean library, but it's something almost anyone can relate to when it comes to "public publishing", as I like to call it.
